Yeah, I also think that ooma is just an elaborate pyramid scheme a.k.a. Ponzi/Madoff scheme. If you google it you will find some trying to convince you that they actually do make money (extras, and extremely low cost to producer), still not convinced.

not here to push it, but its been around a couple of years, ive been using it now for a couple of months, have it on a 1.5mbps cable, works great. Now, OP is wrong, telo has monthly regulatory charges of a couple of bucks. the original core when sold with the scout (what i have) is free for life.  Now, seeing as I bought it for 180, if I have it for 2 years, it comes to 7.5 a month for home phone service, so I'm not complaining. For those who bought it 3 years ago....u can do the math. If they go outta biz, then amex gave back money to people on the sunrocket bankruptcy....

here are the pro and and cons [as said before nothing is free, they are betting on you getting Advanced feature which do incur monthly fees,but you have to bear in mind that nowadays with the the internet voip calls hardly cost any thing for the company].
