A friend of mine had a similar issue needing to build up credit I asked him which card he used he said first he had a wamu card then for a while he used a card from applied bank. But he said you can also look for any "secure" credit card. Hope this helps good luck

Citi secured card is great if they're still paying out something like 5% interest on the secured funds.
GAP cards are usually easy to get.

Being an authorized user will only hurt you if the account you are on is problematic.  Like a high utilization rate or not paying bills on time.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I must second what Dan said, I was an authorized user long ago on someones card, and a quick look at my CR revealed that my score was getting hurt by his high utilization ratio (pretty much maxed out). I called capital one p, and after being transferred a couple of times (I don't know his SS#) they took me off. My credit score shot up after this.

ye probably not much to worry about.
this comes up often too.
& as far as i know with utalization as soon as it goes down your score shoots up. why not check your credit after you take yourself off. i'm guessing there wont be much worse than 2 inquiries...

+1
i was an authorized user for a while and never had any problems, as with anything if you don't pay your bills you mess yourself up

btw the bank of america credit card (if you have an account) is very easy to get. they'll start you off with a low credit but pay your bills and show an income and they'll raise it (if no income try for a student card)
