This a great chap...
See, THIS is the kind of stuff I was looking for!

Now, I'm not sure its ethical to return an item to the store for the purpose of buying it back again (read: not sure you should try it), but this is a very interesting concept.

Dan, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be fun to have some sort of contest like this.
Have people try and find the best price on something, and the winner gets that thing as a prize.
Maybe for something cheaper than an Eee, but it could be a fun game, and a way to generate more traffic to the site...

Sometimes you need to call it what it is.
I am not going to sugarcoat it.

scam = Chap that is questionably ethical

I still consider that a chap.
I don't recommend anyone do this, but I like the way we're thinking.

Hey, E... remember when you told me "that's the price", with some degree of finality? heh...

That's not what I call scamming. That stuff is just petty.

I'm not going to get into real scamming. "the feds might be watching us". LOL

Well, just to update this thread, my "deal" ended up being a dud.
I was shipped a device that was not only "open box", but clearly a unit that was returned due to malfunction. It looked like it was in good condition, but the packing materials weren't sealed, and it failed to boot.

I got an RMA and sent it back only to find out they had no more inventory of that one in stock, and so I'm just being refunded my money for now.
Very dissapointed, now I'm back to deal hunting...
I wish there was a way to check what was in the clearance bin at Target without going to the store...

I just got a crazy deal on an eee pc. The 2GB Surf retails for 299. I got a new one on ebay for 240. but when you use live.com to search, the sponsored ebay link gave 35% cash back on any buy it now purchase. free shipping no tax. total = 156. the 35% (84 bucks) shows up within 60 days in your paypal account to withdraw. ebay when purchasing with paypal is still having fluctuating discounts when searching using live.com. today their promotion is17% discount. it seems to be ranging between 5 and 20 percent depending on factors im not aware of. either way you can still get a pretty good deal on an eee pc or for that matter anything on ebay when using this...

by the way, im typing this on my new eee pc and i love it. I also bought a touchscreen kit to mod, so that this can be used as a tablet as well... the eeeuser forums are great.
good luck

That is great!
I never knew about the live.com search and ebay cash-back!

But I am seeing on ebay all the buy-it-now 2GB Surf Eee PCs priced at $299, none lower.

it was unusual when the 240 popped up. it was a guy who claimed he opened it, gave it to his wife, and it was too small, so brand new but not... good enough for me...
