Using BA miles to book an AA trip
« on: September 11, 2011, 02:49:12 PM »
Are stopovers included for domestic flights also?

And what is the cancellation policy if you booked using BA for a AA trip?

What is the best way to book domestic flight on AA with stopover using BA miles? Is there a way to actually do it online, without doing multi-city, or do you have to call? If you do have to call, what are the fees per ticket, or per booking?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Will finally get to use 100K BA miles from CC signup. 2 RT Biz/First Tickets, JFK-LAX 11/6, LAX-LAS 11/7, LAS-LGA  11/8, for 50K each. By the way, are there any upsides to using certain cities as the stopover point? In my case, is there any difference between booking with stopover in LAS or stopover in LAX? don't plan on using lounges really.

I don't know if I understand your questions exactly. It depends where you want to go!

Basically, I need to be in LA on 11/6 for a wedding, and I'd like to spend a day in Vegas on the way back to NYC. When I talk to the booking agent, is it better to tell them im flying to LAS with stopover overnight in LAX, or am i flying to LAX and stopover on return in LAS for before continuing on home to NYC? Or is it the same difference?
Thanks

It shouldn't make a difference. But if for whatever reason it does to them just switch it!

Thanks. Do you know if and what the fees would be to adjust the booking once it's booked?

BTW- beware that BA charges 3x the milage for domestic business as they consider it first class.  The exception being the JFK-LAX and JFK-SFO routes because they have 3 classes of service.

I believe that is still going into effect sometime in November but they haven't announced all the exact details yet.    I'm just using what I have leftover now.

That's BA proper. You have to call Executive Club at 800 955 2748

I'm hearing all this talk about BA miles being devalued. I have 100K+ will the value for domestic use go down?

Is it possible to book an AA ticket using BA miles JFK-CDG. On the BA website it only shows me BA availability. Are you only able to book this by calling or it can't be done.

Thank you

Another question:

I tried booking an AA flight using BA miles and tried to do the stopover thing Dan talked about here.

Quote
You can use BA miles even while traveling on AA to take an unlimited amount of free stopovers, even on a one-way ticket! You can theoretically fly from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, stay there for a couple nights, then to Dallas for a few nights, onto Chicago for a few nights, and Cleveland for a few nights before finally flying to New York. And you can book that whole one-way ticket for just 12,500 miles and $10 tax!

However, when I tried booking this with BA on the phone they told me it was going to cost more in mileage as it would be a separate ticket. Was he wrong? Did I call the wrong people? Anyone know how to book that type of ticket?

I want to go NYC-->LAS-->LAX-->NYC
