Insert mantra here.

Ha. Well, which one: YMMV or "try, try again."

Are you able to use BA miles to book a flight on AA from US to Europe, such as LAX to LHR? Does AA or BA charge a fuel surcharge for such flights? If yes, what would such a charge typically be?

Yes, BA miles can be used on any OneWorld carrier.

The taxes on AA won't be as high as BA but if travelling in business or first there's a big luxury tax.

We all know that BA allows unlimited stopovers.
People have mentioned that this could mean having 2, 3 or 4 stopovers while crossing the US.

But I was wondering how far they would go.
While not with AA (couldn't be bothered starting a new thread), reckon they would let me book  hba-mel-cbr-syd-bne-glt-rok-mky-tsv-cns-wei-hid on QF?

Not bad for 15k miles...

If the agent is being cooperative and there's a sense that they have never learnt or know any geography (not too hard to find), it may possible to max out the 16 segments allowed on a single.
Now that would be cool!

Thanks but can you be more specific? How much is "luxury tax"? What would fees be on BA vs. AA?

Don't remember exactly put probably ~$500/~$300

You can do a dummy booking on BA.com and it will tell you exactly.

Quote
You can use BA miles even while traveling on AA to take an unlimited amount of free stopovers, even on a one-way ticket! You can theoretically fly from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, stay there for a couple nights, then to Dallas for a few nights, onto Chicago for a few nights, and Cleveland for a few nights before finally flying to New York. And you can book that whole one-way ticket for just 12,500 miles and $10 tax!

would i be possible to do phl-->mia>lga (or ever jfk-->mia-->lga) for the price (in miles of course) of a one way?

In general it has to be in the direction of travel, but YMMV (Don't think BA has specific rules.)

BTW- beware that BA charges 3x the milage for domestic business as they consider it first class.  The exception being the JFK-LAX and JFK-SFO routes because they have 3 classes of service.

This stinks!
