As long the night is under 100k you can use the 85k cert and top it off with 15k

If you plan on staying in the area then no need for a car all the food is walking distance and Uber is very quick and cheap

Thanks
Car rentals seem like $10 a day so not much more than an uber unless parking is an issue

If its a gifted reservation, should the "2nd guest" be showing as primary on the reservation? Think the MT rep messed up and Just want to make sure its done right and not run into issues at this hotel...

no they're not. it looks exactly the same as a 2nd guest reservation, but its internally coded as a gifted reservation which is how it shows up on the hotel end. you just need to double confirm the telephone rep did it correctly and wasn't lazy about it, since they know 99% of hotels don't care.
Also, a DP - if you do the gifted reservation properly they are very accommodating here, and IME gave a very substantial room upgrade, even though technically status should not play in on a gifted reservation. they kept the upgrade through a second reservation at an even lower rate, about 5-6 madreigos higher than what was paid for.
limitation is that you can only do 5 gifted reservations a year, although not sure if thats enforced.
