One of my kids will iyh be flying to Israel later this month on Iberia and we realize that the passport expires in April.

I called Iberia and they said that as long as passport is valid when flying they wont deny boarding.

Should I be concerned that there will be an issue upon arrival in Israel and get a renewal appointment now, or if Iberia is OK with it should I not be concerned?

No reason to risk it. Regardless you need a new one in April, why not get it now? I believe Israel can (will?) give you problems upon entry.
Memories last forever, make them while you can.

Thank you both for comments.

I agree about needing it before April and tried to convince her, but the flight is in less than two weeks so it will need to be one of those in person appointments and she is in finals right now through a few days before the flight.

if she has a day to spare or a few hours can even be three four days before the flight you can go down to the passport office with your printed itinerary of your ticket and departure date and they'll do it same day.

-1 Israel recently updated their passport requirements to only needing to be valid for period of intended stay

Use a TIMATIC checker. That's what's the airlines use.

Hi. I did this and it looks good, but does it matter that the Iberia flight connects out of Spain? According to this website she cannot fly to Spain as a destination with  less than six months on her passport. Although she is just connecting out of Spain I want to make sure that the airline wont view it as a destination and give her an issue.

Is this still what the airlines (specifically DELTA) are using?
