Just looked at that thread, didn't see any mention of going through security with no ID at all on you. I've done that once before (albeit with my own ticket), and all that was required at the time was a full pat-down.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Definitely yes, but it was quite a few years ago. IINM before TSA Pre became an option. Flew to California from NY. Didn't have DL (or any other ID) with me, so couldn't rent a car, DW joined me a day later IIRC and brought it along.

I'm pretty shocked. Didn't think it was possible to fly without id
