Discounted iPhones w/ ATT Loyalty/2-Year Agreement
« on: January 03, 2019, 11:28:58 AM »
AT&T has a call-in only deal available for old-school 2 year contract pricing on the new iPhone XS and XS Max. Ask for "loyalty" or say "I'd like to cancel" when you call.

They will take $450 off the price of the phone in exchange for a 2 year commitment to AT&T with the usual ETF if you want to cancel. Certainly not for everyone, but I thought I'd share.

Just picked myself up an iPhone XS Max 256GB for $799 plus tax. Agent also added a free Otterbox Defender case. And waived the upgrade fee. Overnight shipping on everything.  No changes to my plan as I'm already on one of their unlimited plans - YMMV if you do not have an unlimited plan... Decent deal in my book if you plan on sticking with AT&T longer-term.

Pricing (before taxes):

iPhone XR 64GB $299

iPhone XS 64GB $549
iPhone XS 256GB $699
iPhone XS 512GB $899

iPhone XS Max 64GB $649
iPhone XS Max 256GB $799
iPhone XS Max 512GB $999

Carefully read through that thread, there are some horror stories. In a nut shell: going to the old version contract means you will go back to the old version pricing and that means your "access fee" will go from $15/month to $40/month.

It's a huge, huge thread but that's how it went for most people and then they had o spend countless hours getting everything reversed.
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Agreed.  I think it's a non-issue if you're already on one of their unlimited plans where the access fee is already $40.  My line access fees are discounted at the plan level so there was no change in the economics of my plan...

Is there a big difference between the XR and the XS?

Aside from the:
1) SIZE. XR is HUGE!! Don't take it from me, take it from him
2) The price
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Main difference is XS has better quality screen and cameras. Not enough to make a difference to most people (especially for extra ~$400).

"upgrade" is a misnomer, you're simply financing the new phone, the only question is if you paid off your current one.
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

I think u misunderstood, AT&T always has bogo sales meaning if you buy (upgrade) your phone on 1 line, and add another line (2 year agreement) you get the 2nd phone for free (promo each month). That's a much better value imo especially if ur on a family plan all u have to do is leave and come back
