Inheriting miles and points

I'm not too old, but I was wondering what happens to the miles and points after someone passes away. Do the inheritors of the deceased inherit those mile and points or are they just forfeited? Their are many people who have millions of points equaling to thousands of dollars, is it all lost?  And if so what can be done to preserve it for the inheritors?

Don’t report the death to the airline and just have the family members use the points.

And get arrested. Cant really happen anymore because of direct deposit of social security. No more checks. Social Security knows right away. If you dont survive the month youre not entitled to social security for that month. They pull it out almost immediately. No need to report anymore.

I know of a woman locally who was forced to sell her house to pay restitution for cashing her dead mothers checks for years.

Because then what prevents others from doing so? If I’m not caught, good. If I’m caught, I just need to pay it back. Where’s the downside?
