aa free checked bag with citi platinum select question

I have the platinum select aa citi card but was thinking of downgrading to avoid the annual fee.  I have a domestic trip in 2 weeks.  does anyone know if the benefit of free checked bag gets immediately removed from my account when I downgrade or whether there is a lag time and I might still benefit from the free bag perk.

I don’t know the answer but I’d assume yes since the status of your AA account will determine the fee at check in. On a side note, are you sure that the annual fee isn’t worth it? For myself, just the 10% miles back makes it worth it.

With that card you can call in citi and tell them that you wanna downgrade it because of the annual fee, a lot of time they offer you to use it and they will re credit the $95 annual fee charge, You have nothing but losing from not trying it.

Wouldn't the annual fee be prorated. In that case why not wait 2 weeks 2 downgrade. A 95 af would cost $4 for 2 weeks
