Venice, Rome, Florence. You can easily spend the whole week in any of those places if you don't want to rush
Florence, Pisa, Siena and Tuscany

Awesome, Whats best way to get around ital, rail or plane ?

I see rail is cheap, so Rome, Venice, Genoa, Florence, Pisa, Livorno?

question, how to max travel. Like fly into rome and fly out of venice to athens ? or vice versa ?

Rail Rome to florence, livorno, pisa, genoa, milan, venice in that order ? Anything to see in Verona or Bologna ?

For a week I'd pick 2 cities..maybe Rome and Venice and take the train.   Or down south. Either way I wouldn't try doing too many cities in one week.

It's not about ambition. It's about how you travel.
And how much you want to explore each city.

my wife wants to do a day in Milan since her grandmother is from there. If we land late at night or early am and do one day in Milan, then what other 2 cities would folks recommend? Between Rome, Venice, Florence?
Primary con ern is kosher food, then comes nice things to do and beautiful things gs to see.
Do we need a car in any of the locations?
Also neither of us speaks a word of Italian

We didn't do anything in Milan itself except sleep and eat (and walk along the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele near the PH)
we did 3 day trips - to Lake Como, to Stresa and the islands, and to Locarno
any questions about those places I'd be glad to answer
@ari9 Did you do the day trips by train or car? How long did the travel to each take? In retrospect, would it be better to sleep over in these places? I'm considering that but my main issue is kosher food outside of Milan. Thanks

Heading to Milan from Israel for the weekend tomorrow morning (5/11/16). Spending first day in Milan Central (food, shopping), then heading to Como at night. Waking up in Como on Thursday with two (almost full - except travel for Shabbat) days to spend in the lake region. Was originally planning one day trip to Lake Lugano (Switzerland) as it is a 40 minute train from Como, and then on Friday, to do a boat tour of the Bellagio portion of the lake (with a stop in the town itself). Back to Milan on Friday afternoon for Shabbat where we will be staying at the Milan Marriott Hotel and being hosted for Shabbat meals by the Chabad house. Shabbat day we will simply walk around and see the main attractions (Duomo...) until Shabbat afternoon where we will be back to Chabad for meals. Saturday night all restaurants closed this time of year, so we will be getting kosher gellatto and then heading to MXP for a stay at Moxy Milan Malpensa for our Sunday flight at noon.
...
TIA
@ RafLiP How did this trip work out? How were the Chabad House meals?

We are planning a trip to Milan and nearby Lake Region and wonder if anyone can tell us about Shabbos hospitality with Chabad. How was it, where are they located, where did you stay, and how did you contact them? Also, which restaurants are best?

There seem to be 2 Chabads in Milan with Shabbos hospitality: one with Rav Michael Elmaleh at Naar Israel piazza castello 5 and another with Rav Tzemach, Bet Hatalmud, via luigi soderini 35 with meals at via Francesco Carlini 5. Please post if you have any idea about either or both of these.

thiking about doing rome and venice, however departing flight may be out of milan. plan is to arrive rome monday late morning, stay a couple days, then wednesday evening train to venice then do shabbos venice. Then sunday am train to milan and leave monday am from milan.
Is this too ambitious? Too little time in rome/venice? not enough in milan?

I’m flying into FCO on 7/3, heading to Venice over the weekend until Sunday and flying back from Paris on Thursday 7/12. My question is which of these scenarios would be recommended over the other? Sunday-Monday in Milan then Monday -Thursday in Paris. Or Sunday-Tuesday in Nice and then Tuesday-Thursday in Paris?

Milan if you want shopping, not sure about Sunday. Nice for the scenery and beach.

If by Milan, you are referring strictly to Milan proper, then Nice, but if Milan can also be Como, I'd say it's a wash

Shopping in Paris is similar or superior to Milan

+1. Forget Milan and go straight to Como.

It's also closer to Venice and you'll probably be able to cover it as opposed to Nice where you'll feel rushed

Thanks.

I was planning on spending the night in the Park Hyatt Milan. Is that still possible if I want to go to Lake Como? If not where to stay?
