Status from CC spend JetBlue Vs. AA
« on: December 15, 2022, 12:25:58 PM »
I've been spending $50k a year for the past number of years for B6 Mosaic status.
Trying to figure out if I'm better off spending $40k-75k on AA instead.

Both allow same day changes and both award extra legroom at checkin.

Biggest difference I can think of now is that B6 allows SDC starting 24 hours before your flight.

How many times a year do you use those benefits?
Don't forget to weigh the opportunity cost vs earning 2 or 2.25% back.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Don't forget to weigh the opportunity cost vs earning 2 or 2.25% back.
Extra legroom can be 4-5 times a year.
SDC maybe 1-2x a year.

With JetBlue spending $50k always works out to about 2% back when considering the 15k bonus and 10% rebate.

Regardless the benefits (flying with a family of 7) are worth more than the lost opportunity costs.

Trying to figure out if I'm better off spending $40k-75k on AA instead.

While flying B6:

1) Gold (at 40K) gets you 1 free bag and EMS at check in.
2) Plat (at 75K) gets you what Gold gets but gives 2 free bags (and whatever priority bag delivery is).
3) Mosaic Tier 1 (at $50K) gets you 2 free bags, free alcohol, EMS at check in, and SDC.

Seems option 3 is still best.

Nope. Neither 40K or 75K affords SDC.

Mosaic allows change within 24 hours of the currently booked flight whereas AA only allows change within 24 hours of the flight to which you want to SDC.

What about while flying AA?
Since the partnership I've started flying on AA as well and enjoyed the free luggage and better seats at check in.

Don't really need the 2nd free bag.

One big devaluation with the Mosaic Tier one is there are now higher tiers that can select EMS seats earlier so question is how good the selection will be at checkin (although that's still a plus over getting them at the airport).

My biggest desire for AA status is flying international.
