I may be flying on united from ewr to TLV next month. Currently on the flight I am looking at their are regular business mileage awards available. Not the savers. So regular mileage is 180k points. Is it better for me to purchase it that way or to purchase a regular ticket and use mileage for an upgrade? I would want to have a guaranteed upgraded seat.

Thank you

What do the fare classes look like for the flight?

I'm in my mobile so I'm not sure how to search fare classes on it. But the basic search comes back with fares L, H and Z.
This is for the 420pm flight on the 17th.

Thank you

I will be by a computer later and can check at that time. I don't know if it makes a difference. While I don't have status a family member who I can put points through has 1k.

Thank you

If you book cash and use points to upgrade it will not be confirmed at this point.

Thank you. At this price $3.5k for cash for business class. Or 180k points. What's more worth it? Or is it cheaper to book through my credit card company directly and use points through there?

Thank you

180k is valued at around 1.3-.14
So it is cheaper to use points

Thank you. Do you know if it ends up being cheaper using chase themselves to book a ticket?

BP = Amex Business Platinum, I don't think the travel collection benefit comes with Chase cards.
