Saw that but was surprised that they shut you down for a mere 300 transactions (1300+1700=3000 / 10 points = 300).
I am currently at 280 in past month so guess will stop for a while if not completely.

It was a few months of lots of 50 cent (and sometimes less) transactions. Mostly Amazon GC reloads.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I wonder if they would be so quick to crack down on a multitude of legitimate transactions? (I.e. the guy that buys a soda or snack from a vending machine everyday, 99 cent cup of coffee, maybe using Uber/Lyft GCs for your daily commute and leaving only a few cents to pay via CC...)

I can say that I've used it in Israel to purchase a 1 shekel BuyMe GC via PayPal - never heard from Citi or BuyMe.  Was not assesed FX fee either, since the fee was probably under a penny.

They only shut down this card and took away the points associated with it. For a while before the shut down I wasn't able to access the ThankYou Points website or wasn't able to make a transfer out. After they shut down this account and took away the points I regained access.

How long was it from when you first noticed TYP was locked until shutdown?

@Dan here's the dp
Can't seem to log into DW's Thankyou.com account (or get balance or redemptions off Citi.com website, or link Amazon for shop with points). I've been hitting it pretty hard with Amazon 0.50 reloads, I wonder if this is some kind of shutdown (card still works). Need to get DW availability to call and find out, as it's her account.
June statement 4 pages of 0.50 Amazon purchases.

May statement about 4.5 pages of 0.50 purchases.

Account wasn't shut down, but I can't access TYP. It's DWs account so I need to find the time to get on the phone together with her to see how bad it is.
Account was shut down. I guess I was way too aggressive.
I posted some of my activity upthread.

They only shut down this card and took away the points associated with it. For a while before the shut down I wasn't able to access the ThankYou Points website or wasn't able to make a transfer out. After they shut down this account and took away the points I regained access.

Sometimes Amazon gave problems (didn't process), but it was Citi that eventually shut down.

I automated at the time using iMacros (IINM) but it needed constant updating.
