You mean this airport?
https://tinyurl.com/y8g3tn2g
could be he meant this one. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_Los_Angeles_International_Airport_shooting

What's your point? Arguing that the country recently underwent a attempted coup , is a better argument than pointing to an attack which similar ones have occured at Western airports as well

IINM in none of the cases was anyone on the airside in danger. I am guessing that @coralsnake was being sarcastic, just like others on this thread.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

It's as safe as LHR, but you gotta know yourself (and your family) if you/they are going to be paranoid and shiver to death on every turban don't do it, it's not a matter of facts it's your feelings

Looking at flying from ORD to TLV using Turkish Air is its about $1k cheaper then everyone else.  How safe is Istanbuls airport?  Going to be going with family, kids range between 7-14 looking at stop overs ranging between 2-8 hrs.  I have priority pass through my amex platinum business and personal cards.

What do you guys think?

Thanks
I've flown to Israel many times and Turkish was one of if not the most pleasant flying experience! as far as the airport is concerned the lounge was nice and fell safe there (wore t-shirt and baseball cap just to make sure).

Only difference I can remember is that most people davened beyichidus. There may have been a small minyan.

Otoh on Ukrainian we had a minyan factory and all the workers there where yelling that they'll leave without everyone if they didn't get into the plane when the last minoan was still in middle of shemoneh esray.
I'm not who you think I am.

Can't recall ever seeing a minyan at IST (might be partially because I usually head straight to the lounge). OTOH on my way back through MAD people got together right after the security check for connecting flights and we had a nice minyan for Shachris and Mussaf. Can't imagine that experience in IST, but only due to the fact that IST compared to MAD is like comparing pedestrian traffic in Times Square to pedestrian traffic on 14th Avenue in Boro Park. There's just no quiet place in IST that we could have davened like we did at MAD.

#fakenews. LHR is the most dangerous airport in the world. Your knees are likely to disintegrate from the walking. Last time I was there, my Fitbit screamed out, "are you kidding me?"

Never been to LHR. Is it really worse than Turkey? In IST you can easily need to walk 25 minutes. They put the TLV flight at the farthest gate. Literally the last gate.

PE much worse, i flew from BUD-LHR-JFK on BA in F, had a 4.5h layover, we landed early and finally got to the 1st class lounge 20min before departure (we had massages reserved but never made it there) worst airport experience ever and thats with flying 1st.

The most i had to walk was about 20min in IST which i think is not that bad (and if your running late they will escort you through security and get you to the gate)

I haven't been to LHR in quite a long while. I don't recall long walks, but I do recall long bus rides for connections.

TLV and US gates at IST are YMMV, I've had them all the way at the end (last time I connected, were they not only both all the way at the end, but both required bus rides to the aircraft >:(), and I've had them both right in the center, with the shortest possible walk to/from the lounge. All of this should change after March 1st (though I wouldn't hold my breath, as the date has been pushed off a couple of times).

YYZ is quite bad with walking distances.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
