Amazing! Some people just now how to do it! #jealous!!  :-\ :-\

Thanks!

The good news is that this is a fairly easy and inexpensive trip to recreate on your own (assuming you are based in the USA).  Also, there is lots more to do in the Death Valley area if you have more time than we did.  Hopefully we can go back sometime.

Did you see any fighter jets when you were there?

I see you were pretty close to "star wars canyon," which is supposed to be one of the best places to see them doing low-altitude training runs. Although I assume with the terrain being what it is, just being fairly close is probably not good enough...

Every time I looked up, I saw those damn jets - they kept making lines in the sky and I was always muttering under my breath that those damn flyboys were ruining my sky shots.  I was constantly framing my shots to avoid the lines (although fairly easy to fix in Photoshop).  I can't say, however, that we ever saw any low altitude runs.

Yeah, the place to be for that is near Panamint Springs. It's a top bucket list item for me. I hope to make it there in a couple of months.

Nice.  Hope you make it.

We were pretty limited in time and, if we did have more time, I can't say that Panamint Springs would have been on our short list of places to visit.  If we do go back, I'd love to explore more of the off road trails.

Thanks. There is a couple who recently visited all of the national parks and Death Valley is listed at number 1:

When I mentioned to a few people we were going to Death Valley, the response was why and what will you do there for a week. Little did they know how amazing it is.

Did you "winterize" the RV?
And how cold did it get at night?

TIA!

@PBaruch Do you think I can take a big RV through 20 Mule Team Canyon?

(I'm sure a Jeep is far more ideal, but is it necessary?)

20 Mule Team Canyon has a 25 foot restriction so you will not be able to take a big RV through it and I would not recommend trying.  I don't think you need a Jeep though - the road was dirt but fairly level and easy when we went.

Makes sense, although realistically I assume a jeep is probably the only rental option around there.

Sorry I don't know if there are any major car rentals near Death Valley.  Farabee is conveniently located in Furnace Creek and if it is within your budget, it is a lot of fun to rent a Jeep from them and go off roading.
