Bed copier/scanner/printer for home use that doesn’t eat ink
« on: February 14, 2019, 01:42:32 PM »
Would spend up to $200 or so as long as it is efficient with the ink and is decent quality. Any suggestions ?

I like the brother MFC series, you can compare them and compare the biggest toner each one supports, and decide which one works best for your needs.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I dislike the Brother printers, as they stop printing when you can still get quite a few pages out of your toner.

I like the OKI MB472. Probably lowest cost per page (only comparing cost using original toner, not refilled).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

You just need to change the settings to allow it to continue to print

The Brother line is very affordable and very good. Not sure about color printing though.

And where would that setting be?

I tried both, can say both are OK, but I prefer the OKI, for the reasons you mentioned.

ink efficiency in inkjet printing is an oxymoron . The scam is well explained in this video

After a few frustrating experiences and alot of research i decided to purchase an ink tank printer, so that i could print freely. This is the one i have and i am mostly happy with .

Ink and toner are two totally different animals. I've tried inkjet once, and when it refused to print black when a certain color ran out, the experiment was over.

I wasted so much money on inkjet for my business , at the time used to print hundreds of invoices daily and when a color ran out -----, big waste .

Of course. I don't print that much but I often need color. A color laser is cost prohibitive forme.

That changes things.

There are actually advantages to ink over toner. But in an office environment inkjet just doesn’t cut it.

I'd recommend a brother MFC monochrome laser (generic tonora work just fine) and a also buy a cheap $30 inkjet for the few times u need to print in color.
You then throw it out when it completely runs out, (google the model to find out how to "trick" the machine.. each one is diff) you buy a new one (cheaper than new legit tonor).
I wouldn't go for the generic ink on the cheap inkjets... I've tried it so many times, not worth the hassle.. just buy a new machine

As i said i did alot of research . Though no printer is perfect, IME the cons are overstated in the Ink tank (though granted i have only owned it for half a year) . I use my printer a few times a week and its works flawlessly . Again not suggesting its a perfect solution, however after much frustration with Inkjets, this experience has been refreshing (and luxurious!). Now i don't think twice about printing anything including color and long documents i want to read (or even ebooks).

I followed this instructions to reset the printer

and printed a test page, it was as dark as it can be.  >:(
