A better parallel would be if you made a new username, and started posting MSN links and sticking forks in stuff so that people thought you were a new incarnation of CV.
...and play the victim.  :)
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

No, but I dropped out of an Ivy League Law School, so every attorney I've talked to tells me I'm smarter than a lawyer.

FWIW :P

Well, should we get into the list of where I dropped out of?

FWIW, Shimon Hayut also seems to be a drop out that legally changed his name to Simon Leviev.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

my guess to the answer to @ExGingi questions is that probably more important than whatever money they might collect from him,  they're probably hoping for the lawsuit itself to act as some kind of cure for their reputation, a way to formally disassociate from him, and probably will make it harder for him to continue using his legal name in the way he has

He committed fraud for years using the Leviev name. While in 2022 the Leviev name is mostly cleared, that does not undo the damage he has caused for the family name in the years prior.

Again, I am asking what damage was caused to the family name at ANY time?

I did see on one Israeli website that he allegedly used the LDD company name or logo. That would be trademark or copyright infringement, and could definitely be a valid claim for damages.

Example: He scammed a few private jet airlines out of hundreds of thousands of dollars while claiming he was part of the Leviev family. Until the people involved (and everyone they spoke to) were made aware that he's not related, the Leviev reputation is that they are billionaires that don't pay their bills. Untrustworthy. Not a family you want to partner or do business with. Obviously there is an impact.

Another example - all the lies about him being in danger because he works for the Leviev family business, promoting the idea that they're involved in shady, dangerous business. And etc.

Someone impersonating @ExGingi son is a drug dealer. Rumors about your son dealing drugs circulate in your community. Any damage done to your reputation?

All hypothetical. Did any of this damage actually happen and have an affect?

What recourse might I have if his last name is legally the same as my son's?

None except when he represents himself to be your son.

Not like you to defend a person like this. Are we missing something?

Not hypothetical. This is exactly what happened, and their reputation was damaged. Whether the damaged reputation led to provable monetary damages is difficult to determine, but this does not matter in a criminal case.

I am not defending him. I've seen and experienced a thing or two in life. As deplorable as his actions are, I don't see how there is ANY legal recourse.

The current case brought by the Leviev family is a CRIMINAL case initiated by a citizen.

So you think they get a criminal conviction for damaged reputation? Will that require any concrete evidence? Testimony of someone that will say that they refused to do business or associate with the Leviev family?

Isn't the bar actually higher in criminal cases?

Sounds like in his early days he scammed someone who was selling award tickets.

A. What kind of broker would book $65,000 of tickets before getting payment?
B. Is he on DDF? :D
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Brokers never run up a $65k balance with an agent? 🤔
