SouthWest Tier Qualifying Flights Question
« on: September 28, 2022, 02:36:48 PM »
Hi,

My wife travels a lot for work in the Western USA, so she frequently flies SouthWest airlines.  She's had the A+ benefit for several years now and it is very beneficial for her since she doesn't need to worry about getting a good boarding number AND (even more beneficial), she frequently gets finished with her assignment early and loves being able to get the free same day standby for an earlier flight.

Anyway, due to work travel still being somewhat depressed in 2022, it looks like she's going to be a few flights short of the 25 necessary to maintain that status for 2023.

I know that the flier only gets 1 TQF per departure-destination and does not get a TQF for each of the flights where she may have a connection.

However, does anyone know if she'd be able to get more than 1 TQF per day if she did something like this:

She is working in LAX for the week and to get home to PHX she would normally just fly LAX-PHX and get the 1 TQF.

However, what if she, in the SAME DAY, instead booked LAX-LAS as one flight itinerary, visited the AmEx lounge for an hour at LAS, then had a completely separate ticketed flight on that day for a LAS-PHX flight.

Would she get 2 TQFs for that day, or does SouthWest only give 1 TQF per calendar day in such cases?

Thanks!

Doug
