Getting Hyatt Status

What are some ideas of how to get Hyatt Diamond status?  Are they doing any status matching? All I have is SPG Gold and Priority Club Platinum.

Am I correct in assuming that you only get Diamond benefits if you are a Hyatt Diamond at the time of stay not the time of reservation?

I think they stopped "Forgetting", as my account is now Platinum, not Diamond anymore. Platinum, due to CC holder. Not exactly sure when the change occurred, but was definitely within the last 5 days.

I'm booking for the Park Hyatt in Paris.   What's the real differences between a regular room and a suite?    Is it worth the difference in points?
