Actually with limited credit history you're extremely likely to get the Platinum version which only gives 10,000 miles for signing up.
It's still the easiest bonus credit card to get with limited credit history. And if you're going to get only 10k because of the Platinum version, that probably means you'll get
nothing from the other big ones like Chase, Citi and AMEX. But you're still left with a great mileage earning card to build your credit.
My sister just turned 18, and had zero credit history of her own (was an AU on my AMEX). I signed her up for the 40K USAirways Barclays, as well as some of the other big good cards like Citi AA. The only one she got approved for was the 40K US Barclays, with a $2000 credit limit. She did get the Platinum version (vs premier), but her statement still closed 40000 USAir miles. Tell me which other bank does that?
