Now that the US Mint deal is no longer, there may be a new way of "buying money" with your credit card.
Google launched its new NFC Payment App - Google Wallet - today, and buried in an article on CNET about the launch was this:
"Citibank, MasterCard, and Sprint are the initial launch partners for the service. What this means for users is that, initially, virtually the only credit cards that will work with Google Wallet are Citibank MasterCards. Google is also offering a Google Prepaid MasterCard as well, a workaround for people who may not have a Citibank MasterCard. People who want to use this card can preload money from other credit cards onto the Google prepaid card. And then they can make purchases using the phone."As I read this I thought that depending on whether Google would charge such transactions as a cash advance or as a purchase, this may be able to be used to meet spending deadlines or the like. I'm sure that there will be monthly caps, etc., but we'll find out more as more information is released about the service.
I don't have a Nexus S, but I'm hoping to get the Nexus Prime when it comes out in November and would use this then. In the meantime, if anyone has a Nexus S, try thisout and let us know what happens...
