It was a general idea, it might well be a dishwasher or similar, its just that the plane kettles are small, and get washed together with other things.

I attended a shiur in LA a good few years back given by a major LOR who will remain unidentified and said that one can drink the coffee served - though it is better to ask them to fill your cup straight from the machine as a chumrah to avoid issues of the pitchers being washed w/ other dishes.

He said,  "just tell them you like boiling hot straight from the machine" :)

As always....YCMV (your Chumrah may vary...you heard it here first!)

If you had any big issue Continental will give you compensation

I complained that the TV didn't work for My wife and I and they gave us $100 Each

But don't be a genius and complain that the Coffee is not kosher, it just makes them hate us more.

Isn't the "treife steam" only after it hits the kli sheni, not it the air when its irui, but still kosher?
I went to him today. The problem with the Urn is that if (even) cold treif zaiah hit the side of the urn which is a kli rishon, the urn becomes treif (I don't believe anyone will disagree with that). I replied that even though the urn will become treif, once the water is in the urn the issur will be batul. He said I was probably right on that point, and he'll get back to me, but the real problem was with the pitchers.

ask rabbi eidlitz...he will tell you right away what the deal is with coffee on planes or anywhere.

back to the topic at hand.. i recently had a bad experience with united and first they gave me and my husband $50 vouchers, i was not happy and they upped it to $100 vouchers, still not happy and they gave us each 10,000 points back - keep trying - gluck!!! you can say u heard united has better cs...

my flight got cancelled by the hurricane, terrible service when tried to reschedule, spoke to about 5 dif supervisors about unrelated issues - once about rescheduling to get me home before a week later, one an exit seat to compensate for 2 stopovers, once about adding my mileage number to a standby ticket to help my chances (i got on!!)... after every phone call (endless hours!!) the issue was ignored. ex. i was promised exit seats - and in the end we did not even have seats next to each other - never mind the exit!!.... one of the most frustrating experiences i ever had!!
