Global Entry Vs. Mobile Passport
« on: March 26, 2019, 03:16:56 PM »
With the intro of Mobile Passport it seems GE is obsolete (except benefit of TSA Precheck, Land Entry and Nexus if you add that via Canada app).

Agree or Disagree?

Are they in all the same airports?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Disagree, you still have to wait online with mobile passport, almost never any lines for GE.

Sometimes the other way around.

Can i submit my info through the app and still decide to use GE?

reminding me when I had to share a line with MP and the MP people get right away in line while GE still have to use the machine before hand and always a few machines are broken

Yes why do you think not?

Disagree, you still have to wait online with mobile passport, almost never any lines for GE.
That reminds me when I landed in JFK I went to the GE/mobile passport line which were all the same line, they let all the people that had GE go before me and then let me go even though I was the first one on line.(Back then when I didn't have GE, was using MP.)

With the intro of Mobile Passport it seems GE is obsolete (except benefit of TSA Precheck, Land Entry and Nexus if you add that via Canada app).

And the biggest reason to get GE / TSA PreCheck is when flying domestic or even when flying internationally that you don't have to take off your pants and shirt to go through security.
mobile passport is only good for arriving at a destination while GE is good for arriving and departing.
No way to add that via the app , you got to apply for that and take an interview which would allow you to cross the border from the US to Canada by car and by plane.
Cost $50 for 5 years and free for children under 18 yrs of age.

I’ve had that multiple times as well. MP quicker then GE (and no need to deal with machines).

Yes.

Mobile passport only helps you for the first part.
There’s still customs, where the fast lane is only for GE

In JFK T4 they processed customs at passport control, there was no customs after baggage claim other than a couple agents roaming the place to pick random people.

Same in T1.

T1 MP share a line with GE (plus they get front of line privilege as they skip the machine), T4 MP is in the center while GE is on the side, and your luck is that it's the other side from your gate.

EWR TB GE was a minute quicker then MP both Passport control & Customs

the whole process takes 2 minutes so it's worth spending 2 minutes while the plane is on the tarmac.
and then when you get into the airport you'll make up for those two minutes you spent filling out your information.

No you cannot. If you submit the info and then go and scan your passport by a GE kiosk you will get an error message saying that your last border crossing was too recent to use GE. Made that mistake once.

What you mean add Nexus through app? How does that work?

sorry, I'm using horrific abbreviations and shorthand. I meant app as in an application for GE as in if you get the Nexus as a US citizen which is like an add on to the GE and requires initial application at Candian border (I'm assuming all is familiar with the 3 variations of global entry).

Point was Nexus is something that cant be done on mobile passport but is a potential benefit of GE or aka Nexus.

Is it a yes or a no?
I thought yes but if a confirmed report of no, not going to argue.

I thought you would be able to edit or delete the form on the app, but I guess not.
