Israel: New United CC via Bank Leumi
« on: August 09, 2023, 02:35:27 AM »
https://www.leumi.co.il/united/

31.90 ILS monthly fee.  Grants Premier check in and priority boarding.  2 annual United Club passes if you spend 100K+ ILS per year on the card.

Earn is 1 mile per 6 shekels (about $1.60) for shekel transactions or 1 mile per 4 shekels (about $1.07) for FX transactions, with a 1.5% FX fee.

Language vaguely discusses "reduced redemption rates," but I'm assuming this is simply referring to expanded saver like we have with the U.S. cards.  If there actually is some kind of true reduced redemption rate from having the card, could be an interesting play when combined with a U.S. card setup!

Pretty poor by U.S. standards, but not bad for an Israeli UA flyer with no other options.

Yes, but transfers to UA have been available for years via Max (formerly Leumi Card).  This new card certainly offers the best Israeli UA earn ratio now.

I agree with the other poster, they are clearly targeting the Fly Card Premium segment here, although in the new Matmid program debuting on 9/1, I don't see how a loyal LY flyer would consider not using a Fly Card Premium.

I think they are more likely to be targeting the Israeli crowd faithful to UA - especially in tech/startups

Yeah on second thought that sounds more accurate.  Or people who have a meaningful number of flights with both airlines, but not enough for status/lowest-tier status - this could serve as a joker card.
