Which is your preferred Internet browser?
« on: March 28, 2019, 08:05:33 AM »
I used to use chrome but i was just introduced to brave.com, by a computer programmer I know (he called chrome evil) seems like it has a built in ad and tracker blocker which by default also speeds up the connection .
Anyone use it?

Never heard of brave.

I use chrome and edge. Chrome on mobile and edge on PC because it starts much quicker than chrome.
My Tapatalk notifications don't always work.

Currently experimenting with Brave which I only recently heard of.  Works great for the most part, some features like  embedded video  don't work on some sites but it's very easy to turn off Brave features and then page reloads and works.

As far as I can tell, it's chrome with all privacy, ad blocking and anti tracking features enabled by default.  Also even if you disable all that, at least google is not collecting all your browsing data. Brave may be, but they claim they are not.

I, along with many others abandoned Firefox for Chrome a few years back. In its time, Firefox won popularity and user share from Internet Explorer by being lighter and faster. As often happens with software, Firefox became progressively bloated and slow, and was eclipsed by the faster and lighter Chrome. From what I hear those roles are again reversed, with Firefox now winning back adherents by resisting feature-bloat and its accompanying resource-hogging, while also maintaining superior privacy bona fides.

No idea what point you're making about the Tor Browser.

Integrated into brave.
Brave is a Chromium based browser with Tor integration (unlike the original Tor Browser which is Firefox based)? Is Tor automatic when using Brave?

For a certain corporate portal, for which tech support say the only supported browsers are Internet Explorer and Chrome (though certain feature don't work on Chrome), I use Firefox ESR 52.9 32 bit (with updates disabled), in which I can use an extension called FireIE that allows me to switch the underlying engine to IE on a page being viewed, without the need to log in again or anything of the sort. Otherwise, I use Chrome.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Opera in Incognito. Best parts of Chrome with none of the Google creepiness around ads.

Why don't you simply use IE for that certain corporate portal?

Because it's slow and cumbersome. I only use it for one or two pages/functions on said portal.

Microsoft said that Edge will soon be released based on Chromium, replacing the current Edge browser.
