Delta 50% bonus & Medallion Status Explained
« on: July 10, 2011, 02:25:46 PM »
I just called Delta CS and have come up with the following conclusion:
You qualify for this specific bonus only if this is the first time you ever transfer points from Amex to Delta.  If you transfer more than 100k amex MR you will get an additional bonus of being a Delta Silver Member besides for getting the 50 % points bonus. Keep in mind though that your Silver status will be valid  for the next year only. In  other words if you get the bonus now you will be silver till Feb 2013. Notwithstanding if you use up the 150k regular points or not. Other benefits of Silver Membership include getting upgrades to business for you and and a partner only on domestic flights within the USA and Mexico. Not flights to Israel.
Expires Sept. 30/2011., Heres the link http://dmn.delta.com/ace_offers/junemr/

So are you saying that even if you transfer from the same amex account to a different Delta Skymiles acct. you will not be eligible?

The promo is only for the first time into that DL account.
One MR account can transfer to as many DL accounts as wanted.

One MR account can transfer to as many DL accounts as wanted.

Meaning, if I have 200,000 MR points, I can transfer to 100,000 points to both Delta FF account #1 and Delta account #2, and both would get the bump and silver status?

Is that confirmed?

(if you then merge the 2 accounts, you may or may not get bumped to gold status)

Sounds like Delta had a similar thought.
From the T&C's:
Quote
Members will also receive a one-time award of 25,000 Medallion® Qualification Miles (MQMs) toward Medallion status when you register for the promotion and transfer 100,000 points or more (in a single transaction) from the date you register through September 30th. Medallion Qualification Miles will be awarded to qualifying members up to 6 weeks following the date of transfer. Bonus miles and MQMs will be awarded on a one-time basis per qualified Member and will not be awarded more than one time per Member, for example, on newly created SkyMiles accounts (or duplicate accounts) that are subsequently merged with an existing SkyMiles account.
