if you agree to buy something for $100 then you need to get $100 to the seller.
so when you buy groceries with a credit card you make sure the store gets the receives the final purchase price AFTER the cc fees? No. You assume it's included.because that's all they asked for. The question was whether a purchase on DDF should be viewed as a regular eBay/Amazon style purchase where the seller pays or not.

I just want to say thank you for those of you who have trusted me to sell things to me.  I have never sold anything here, so I don't have many posts, I have only bought things and only once was I burned. Everyone who I have dealt with has made the transactions very easy and I really appreciate that! I'm not a "Spring Chicken" and am not that technology savvy, so this group has been so kind to me.  So again, thank you for taking a chance on me, you guys are great!

For products like gift cards or coupon codes, eBay has a feature that lets you sell to a friend without a fee using your personal link, I believe that's a great way to go, and your backed by eBay!
Or am I missing something?

You mean your backed by PayPal with the 2.9% fee and $0.30 Transaction fee.
So we can save time instead of listing it on eBay and just pay the other party through PayPal with payments for goods and services.
Or if you want to have a good pic and all the info saved for what your selling them go ahead and list it on eBay.

Good point! I would imagine as well one would be backed by the eBay guarantee in addition to PayPal, I'm not sure if that's anything helpful though.

You don't need much more, I would just stick with PayPal and leave eBay alone.
But yes can very well be a 2nd source which I'm not sure you'll need.

Hi, new member here. I joined this forum because I have hotel night awards that I wish to sell. However, since I am a new member, I don't have any credibility on here. For someone like me, what are some things that I could do in order to improve my credibility in order to have successful transactions? Thanks for any advice.

We all have to start somewhere... People appreciate kindness and transparency. Some potentially feel better if they have basic info like your name and means of potential contact outside ddf like a cell number or email address once you're agreeing on the transaction.

Ultimately its a matter of trust that runs both ways regardless of number of forum posts

If you’re comfortable sharing your ID, personal info, doing a video call, sharing your eBay/other account where you have a presence (and prove it’s your account), those should all help.

You can give the other party (the verified member) the upper hand. In other words: if you're buying, pay first, if you're selling, get paid after the whole thing is done. Then, it should be easier for people to do business with you, and you can eventually become a verified member yourself.

Yes, if I have potential buyers/sellers, I will be sure to share all of this info with them. Thanks for the tip.

I was considering this as well. Hopefully, the potential buyer/seller has a good reputation already. Thank you for the tip.

That works well when it's a sale that can't be undone by the seller, like a gc that the reputable buyer uses immediately and only then pays the seller. However, that doesn't help as much for something like a hotel cert where the seller could cancel it after payment if he wants. It ensures that the seller won't take your money and run without making a reservation, but it definitely doesn't cover all risks. I assume the only way to really cover all risks is to have the reputable buyer only pay after the stay, which is obviously only reasonable if it's really soon.

I'm certainly not accusing @stephon415 of anything, just pointing out that the method suggested doesn't offer a ton of protection in this particular case.
