How do you make the Seder come alive for YOUR kids?
« on: April 07, 2019, 10:03:03 PM »
Aside from the usual divrei torah, treats, and stories, which are great, there are always those hands on touches that make the seder that much more exciting. It’s kind of like years ago when the schools used to load the kids with information, and then the really great rabbeim started utilizing hands on demonstration techniques and the kids experienced the lessons rather than just hearing them. The difference is night and day.

One friend puts up a giant poster of the pyramids surrounded by endless dessert to bring home what mitzrayim was like. Another has all sorts of representations of the esser makos on display as well as acting out. Some people march around with bags of matzos as if they are leaving mitzrayim. What special touches do you use to  make the Seder come alive for your kids?

An endless supply of chocolate goes a long way.

I go along with the flow and on their speed. They get all the attention that I can give. I don't rush them, and gently prod them when the other kids get antsy. The natural excitment, singing parts, along with the basics do the job.

All i needed to know that in the end of the seder was my chance to find the afikomen and ask for whatever i want, so boy did i make sure to stay awake and watch every step of the afikomen, about the whereabouts and if someone went to hide it.

Any recommendations for pirushim on the haggada that have a mehaleich to impart to kids?

I've used the aruch hashulchan's haggada in the past, highly recommend. Looking for others.
If you don't care why would you comment?
