What to do with AA points?

I opened up a Citi AA card a few months ago (before I saw the light and discovered the Dan's Deals Forums). I got 40K reward miles and have around 50k now.

From reading the forums, though, I have no idea what I can do with these points. They seem useless!

Any ideas or guidance? Please share.

Two tickets anywhere in the US? A trip to the cayman islands?   A few nights hotel stay?  Or just hold on to them?

Useless? If you're looking to buy a liver transplant with them, you're probably out of luck (unless you sell the miles and use them for a down payment :P).

But, seriously, as the above poster said, you can use them for free travel! What are you looking to use them for?

I'm planning a trip to Hawaii in January. Was hoping to maybe get some hotel deals and stay in a nice place.  Looks like I'll have to investigate getting the flights for free.

Another question- anyone know how to see your AAdvantage points when booking online if you have your points through the credit card and don't have an AAdvantage number?

If you didnt have a aa #, then when you opened ur account aa automatically created one for you. You should have gotten a card in the mail. You prob could call ur cc, and they'll tell it to you

AA oftentimes has flights to Hawaii for 35k miles. A great deal. Keep your eyes peeled.
