I've only had the 9 so can't tell you what's the difference and if there's a difference, but what I could tell you, that compared to the norelco/philips round circular blades this kicks by FAR, so much smoother, amazing clean shave and so much faster.
 Kind of disappointed that I stumbled upon this only recently.
 To top it off, I can relax in bed and have my shaver cleaned and dried free of charge!(Pun intended, yes it charges it for you as well.) Menuchas hanefesh!

I switched from philips and the 9 is a big difference for sure. Did not try the 7.
