Which phone should I upgrade to?
« on: April 11, 2019, 01:01:17 PM »
I am very happy with my iPhone SE, but the battery hasn’t been acting well towards me lately.

For simplicity’s sake, I'm thinking of upgrading to one of the iPhones, but I’m not at all too thrilled with the massive sizes they come in these days.

Has anyone else here upgraded from the SE, and can share their experiences?

I went from the SE to the X and I hate it!

I hate the facial unlocking instead of the finger.

I hate the weight, it's soo much heavier and bulkier then the SE.

So why did I do it? Because I don't foresee the phones getting smaller :( although I did shell out even more for the X instead of the absurdly huge, but cheaper, XR
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

I’ve been thinking of that, though I’d rather not get something that’s been around so long already. It’s a matter of time till Apple won’t update them.

You may be able to find a decent deal on the XR - not the top of the line, but good enough. If you trade in your SE to apple directly, you can get it for a mere $670 without subsidies.

Apple also sells refurbs, but they are still expensive - https://www.apple.com/shop/refurbished/iphone

That's exactly why I went with the x

I had the Essential phone for a while and although the phone is excellent, it has a connectivity issue where i got poor reception in many areas where other phones where working perfectly, so i wouldn't recommend it.

I used it on both, with Sprint and T-Mobile, and had the same issue with both carriers.

I have an AT&T Galaxy S8+
The screen is cracked and the webs are growing. Just yesterday the iris sensors stopped working because the cracks  spread over them.
Looking for a new phone. I have verizon prepaid service. Willing to trade in the S8+ for a better deal. Dont want to spend much.
I'm not who you think I am.

Look at the Google Pixel 3a/3a XL - they go for $400/480, and have been getting pretty good reviews. My son and my boss bought them recently and are seemingly happy with it.

From a practical standpoint (i.e. forget describing hardware specs, etc.), what practical benefits does a Pixel 3a offer over a Moto X4 (or G6)?

Because it's a google phone it is the first to get software updates. It also has a highly rated camera that's supposedly on par with the iphone and pixel 3 - not as good, but relatively good given the $$

The Google pixel also comes with stock Android. Many people view that as a big plus.

Moto style lately is that of pretty much stock Android especially in their Android one program.
