I got really messed over when trying to use the voucher in Maui. The counter rep took the coupon and forgot to apply it to the RSVP. So I was charged an additional fee for dropping the car off at a different location.
-after arguing with Hertz for a month eventually they credited it back to me.

To all those using vouchers, just make sure you verify like 100x that everything is applied. Also if you are using your credit card for insurance purposes, I believe the proper route is to use the voucher and if anything were to happen, have them delete the coupon from your reservation.

easier and cheaper just to ask hertz to put in that it was returned a little late, usually its 7.50 an hour or so, so a half an hour 3 bucks, much cheaper than paying for the whole rental....

I thought that in oder to qualify for insurance purposes, the entire rental needs to be charged to the card?

usually not, I always use amex premium which is the best coverage from a credit card that you can get, and as long as there is a charge to the card, even if its just for fuel is good enough. If you want to be extra careful, I would call up your credit card company and record them saying whether your covered.
