not sure if this is a Hack but i needed a last minute same day flight. The 4pm flight was $300 the 1pm flight was $900 i wanted the 1pm flight.  I bought a ticket for the 4pm and was allowed on the 1pm flight by the gate agent.
WOW sounds like what my father talks about pre 9/11 days where it was like getting on a bus

Is there a line between travel hack and travel cheat? Back in the old days of paper tickets and stickers, adding mileage number during stopovers on award tickets

Sorry Ye Mandel, but that's just the facts.

When will you tell us who Ye Mandel is?

This isn’t as impressive as others’ but I once convinced a Delta/AF/KLM rep to put me on the nonstop TLV-JFK flight after a 15 minute later schedule change on the second leg of TLV-CDG-JFK.

99.9% of the world can't come close to the hacks you've done, it's nothing personal.

I can attest to some of what @SuperFlyer has been able to pull off, I am astounded and still grateful :))

Thanks for that.

Not that I was looking for the thank you, however someone with hakoras hatov after so many years tells me a lot about your middos.
It was an honor and pleasure.

So here another one:

In a European supermarket, I spotted a promo of their loyalty points on bio rice cakes.
Now anything bio, turns me off, but I spotted loads of points if you purchase one.

The promo started that day, but overlapped with another promo ending that day which gave double the regular amount of miles when converting those shops loyalty points.

In short, I needed to buy as many as I could.
There were 74 in stock.
I paid at the cashier, and was mentally planning which other supermarket of this brand I'll go to, to buy more.

Suddenly a thought popped up: Why to look for another store, when I can just walk in the store with the same bio rice cakes, and just pay for them again.

I was nervous that on their system a warning would pop-up that this item was no longer in stock.

No such warning came, and so I walked many times back into the shop.

I started getting too many stares, so a friend of mine that walked in the shop (the type that was never fitted with the "shame-module"), I asked if he could do the walk a few times as well.

Conclusion, for very little money, my family traveled the next 2 years all over the place in business class.

The accountant of the store will be a free man on November 2034 after having been charged for fraudulently selling more than available. [just kidding].

This is wild. But if anything, the accountant/store manager got promoted, not jailed. They sold hundreds of rice cakes off of only purchasing 74

It has to make sense from an accountancy point of view, which it obviously doesn't.

You are one smart man, you got that right. (Except that also on United O is First. I used her exhaustion, combined with getting her to multitask, to get her brain on the needed performance level)

The main lesson to be learned here, is that as much as we get frustrated by having a dumb rep on the phone, know that it could be used sometimes to our advantage of played right.

Reminds me of a hack I stumbled upon when DL took over PanAm. While PanAm was 30,000 miles for a RT from the US to TLV (we used to have the point of origin at HNL and then rearrange the flight coupons on the paper ticket and use them with a different reservation), when DL took over they had a redemption level for Intra-Europe at 25,000 for business (back then all airlines considered TLV as Europe for redemptions). What started off as a dumb phone agent error quoting that for a redemption to Europe, ended up being quite lucrative, flying NYC-PSP RT in F, and NYC-TLV RT in J. The party ended when I tried stretching my luck and originating in CUN.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

What did you do with it? Did you exchange for Rubles at the official rate or the black market rate?

None. The Civil War broke out and all the lines were down.

Got this reminder today when I opened the DL app:
