I'd suggest do the spending in one swipe cause there's a good chance they'll shut her down right away

One swipe??  Wouldn't THAT be a flag for immediate shutdown or review?

Possibly but I don't think co is scary like that. On the other hand I've done one swipe ($100) and they immediately shut me down again

Cap 1 does not give referral bonuses if they already had the product. Not sure if that's what she had before, just an FYI.

It was mentioned that it's a personal vs business card. But either way in my experience they do

if you were to close  the card yourself. You will see a small effect on your credit as a result of the card being closed
Closing a credit card has no "direct" impact on your credit score,

Now, it will effect it if your utilization jumps up, or you credit history goes down

So if the closed card is not (one of) your first (three), and you watch your credit utilization there shouldn't be any impact at all.

am I wrong?

You are correct. I had a card closed by Barclays for not using it for a while, on credit report it showed closed by issuer and did not affect credit score.

It was only one card that she had and was closed, not all the cards (like a total close down. So it seemed they didnt like spending on that card not they didnt like the consumer. In this case it was about 4 months from being closed down to reopening a diff. card

Does anyone have experience with Cap1 shutdown and reapplying?

Cap1 shut someone down during last about 5-6 months ago for no reason.

Can he be approved if he reapplies? Or are their shutdowns, black listed type

Got a call from Cap1 asking a lot of questions about a recent large personal purchase that I had by mistake swiped on my spark card... Answers seemed to satisfy her (was all legit info legit business etc).

Rep seemed to indicate everything was good with the account.
