unaccompanied minor on United flight 933 (FRA-IAD)
« on: April 22, 2019, 08:36:48 PM »
My 2 BIL came to me to help for Pessach (one is 15 and the other  one is 13).

United policy is that a 13 Year old can't fly himself (even with his 15 year old brother).

I am looking for someone on this flight.

United 933
Frankfurt (FRA)
5:10pm
Terminal: 1
flight to
Washington (IAD)
This flight returns to LGA, not EWR
8:00pm
Mon, Apr 29

Thanks in advance!

Switch to the nonstop FRA-EWR. Tell UA you didn't know the policy and you should find a rep to switch it for free.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

It's unchangeable because it was booked thru a agancy (Chase points)
(They could change the ticket for over 600$)

Tell them they shouldn't have sold you the ticket if they're not allowed to travel.
Or deal with the fallout at the airport and have them switch there to the nonstop. Just show up well before the EWR flight.

Do they even look At the DOB that’s given at ticketing? I’ve booked dozens of trips for minors with fake DOB.....

We ended up changing it to a direct flight free of charge  (after a couple of HUCAs).(thank you @Dan for reading between the lines ;) *This flight returns to LGA, not EWR*!!! :) )
but when I came to the airport I just let them check in themself (and stood far enough the agent shouldn't see me and close enough if there are problems) and belive it or not they didn't make them any problems here goes there unchagable policy....( @chff  ;))

@JACKBLUE When I booked the ticket I did put in a fake DOB but when checking in with the automatic check in counter in EWR the computer raised the problem

Nicely done.
Who did you call, Chase or UA to change it?

Just for future reference, Lufthansa allows kids 12+ to fly with no fee and can bring a child younger than 12 with them as well. Might be the best option from now on. The European airlines and El Al don’t seem to charge these fees and have these restrictions of only non-stops, like the US airlines.
