Finally there’s also Nexus. Nexus allows expedited entry into Canada in addition to full Global Entry and PreCheck privileges.

And get this, despite offering the most benefits of all 3 memberships, it only costs $50 every 5 years!

However for whatever reason, the credit cards don’t officially refund Nexus membership fees.

I originally enrolled in Nexus on my AMEX Platinum card. Of course it didn’t automatically credit the $50, however a chat agent was able to manually refund the $50 fee.

The main caveat of Nexus is that you must apply for it at the Canadian border. I had planned to apply in Detroit or Buffalo, but in the end I wasn’t able to make it up there. I wound up applying for Global Entry for myself, my wife, and our 2 kids as we were able to apply for it locally in Cleveland and those fees were automatically refunded.

It’s the best money I never spent.

Btw, just a warning for people who are applying for Nexus, wait times are unusually long right now. The CBSA currently says that the average wait time until conditional approval (i.e. when they call you to book an interview) is 40 business days, so approx 8 weeks right now.

Definitely faster, but still very slow compared to what Nexus used to be.

Since Nexus is FREE under age 18, it could work great for families with kids or for young adults just under 18 (still valid for 5 years). I got mine at either YUL or YYZ (can't remember at the moment, as it's been almost 5 years), needed to schedule the appointment way in advance (IME GE appointments are much easier to get). The rest of the family got GE.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Yup pre-approved for all the kids and then need 2 GE for 2 that are older than 18 unless I get Nexus at a discount.

Silly me, I found in the summer slots in yyz the first day of C"H Early morning and said nah will wait, only 15-20 min drive from Toronto, now stuck without anything, unless I stop on the way to Toronto at one of the offices.
  Will see.

There was a member who made a program to constantly search for open slots if any open, but haven't heard back from him.

Currently many places Nexus appointments might earlier then GE. GE is a mess since the shutdown
