Is it worth the change from slate to freedom
« on: June 25, 2014, 11:57:08 AM »
Hi all
trying to evaluate me option, any recommendation will help, i was trying to find a topic about upgrading from slate but i guess the card is not that common anymore.
I have 3 cards:
1- Slate Mastercard since 2001 (my first)
2- Slate Visa Since 2004
3- Amazon Visa Since 2004

It looks like a great time for changes :)
* : I want to Upgrade the slate cards to Freedom, is possible to upgrade at all? does its effects the credit history? or should i just keep the first card from 2001?
** : thinking also to change he amazon to sapphire, but its not a must now, maybe later, your opinion?, Thanks

Don't upgrade the slate to the freedom - then you won't get the bonus. Just apply for the freedom and if you don't get approved you can offer to close the slate. PS: do it this week because the freedom is offering a bigger signup bonus until July 1.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Don't offer to close the slate IMHO. Leave them open better for you credit history.

Apply for Freedom as well a s Sapphire while you're at it. Dont close slate but do transfer some of the CL - if it becomes necassary.

+1

Go for a 3BM. You seem to be in a great position to jump into the game! Dive, it is real fun. You won't regret it.

so basically you saying to apply separately anyway right? since you don't get anything from the offers.
since i'm doing all the credit cards changes is it good to go with freedom and sapphire at all since i'm sure i have good chances in most cards out there

my day to day card is the amazon card but as you know it doesn't give much anymore
Thanks

wgat do you mean "apply seperately anyway", "you don't Getty anything from the offers"?
Upgrading won't get you anything. Applying anew will.

Do a 2BM (or 3 but Ive never gotten 3 approved. Others have apparently). Freedom and Sapphire are good choices. Unless you need, say, BA points. In that car nail up the BA card etc. also, this is all just in Chase. Sure there are other great cards out with other banks. So you can do an AOR if you'd like.

Do some reading buddy. Take a look at the Wiki in this thread, http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=9825.0

Enjoy and if you have any q's, feel free to ask.

Chase just sent me a letter stating that they are transferring my slate and turning it into a freedom-

any reason for me to care? I don't really use the card anyways-
if I should care is there a way to stop it or turn it back?

If you didn't get the Sign up bonus? Other then that, why should you care.
