Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

South Africa need to survive 64 63 balls without losing 1 wicket. Might be over before I finish typing.

It means there are two outs bottom of the ninth and the bottom third of the order are up against Mariano Rivera

No, you're fighting for a tie, not a win

What I was asking is much of an uphill fight was it? 2-1 bases loaded with 2 outs or no outs?

I was just making fun. But basically imagine having the pitcher up, and he has to hit for an hour without striking out.

Bashing everything the Giants do?
I hear
He's just trying to make himself look clever, he never heard of this guy till 5 minutes ago

(as for wrong thread, this didn;t belong in the "I hate francesa" thread, MLB or NFL thread... so why not here, where we can discuss things in relative privacy.. the Count notwithstanding)

Not bashing the Giants, just in general, all his predictions. I mean flipping a coin literally gives you better chances of success than going with his expert opinion.

And yeah, like us, he never heard about Judge, just we're smart enough to admit it.

Why don't they do makeup games instead of DLS? T20 games are short, there's no reason not to. And there are going to be real consequences with good teams missing the semis because of rain, and potentially awesome games were cut short because of rain. This is a world cup! That's dumb.

Also, DLS is inherently unfair in T20. A team can get 2 runs in one over, which totally changes the equation, and then 20 runs off the next over which swings it the other way. The game is too short and the fluctuations are too big to account for in the DLS targets. If the rain started two overs earlier today, SA would likely have been on target. (SA didn't lose today because of DLS, I'm not complaining about the result).

I understand it just fine, I'm saying it shouldn't apply to T20.

If you want an explanation, her it is, though I warn you it is quite technical so you might not follow:

Duckworth-Lewis Cricket Rain Method
Intro:

In the event a cricket match is being played and rain halts play, the Duckworth-Lewis (henceforth DLS) serves to calculate what target shall be set for the chasing team in the event of a shortened game, or determine the winner for a game ended by rain.

1a.1) This section deals only for World Cup games, whether ODI or T20.
1a.2) If any team other than South Africa is playing, hold on a minute, we'll get back to you.
1a.3) If South Africa is playing, the DLS will now go into effect in earnest. If South Africa is chasing, as the game gets shorter, start announcing small increases in required run rate that still give the fans some hope.
1a.4) As soon as play is set to resume, set an impossible target.
1a.5) Try whenever possible to keep adding to the target while reducing the balls allowed. If you can do this without even having a single ball bowled, that is preferred.
1b.1) If South Africa is batting first, announce a reasonable-sounding adjusted target within the shortned time.
1b.2) As soon as play is set to resume, proclaim the chases as victors as they have already scored enough, even if they have not begun their innings.
2a.1) If any other team is playing, just do what seems fair, unless South Africa will be impacted by the result, in which case ensure they get knocked out by having a lower run rate or something asinine like that.

I hope @CountValentine was able to follow all that
