New Amex AU transfer rule
« on: June 05, 2019, 12:19:09 AM »
Effective September 1, 2019, your authorized user will need to wait at least 90 days before you can link their airline/hotel loyalty account to the primary Membership Rewards account.
Life is as good as you make it...

Looking at the terms ....
Is this new?

1. TRANSFERRING POINTS TO FREQUENT CUSTOMER PROGRAMS
Who can transfer points
Some Card Members have the option to transfer points into a participating frequent customer program account. The Cards listed below are not eligible to transfer points. All other American Express Cards are eligible.

Please note that this information only applies to Cards that aren't linked with others on the same program accounts. If you have a Card enrolled in Membership Rewards when you enroll another Card, the Cards may be linked to the same program account unless one or both of those Cards is enrolled in Membership Rewards through a separate program account created for you as an Additional Business Card Member. If the Cards are linked to the same program account, both Cards will be eligible for the benefits available to the Card with the greater benefits. For example, if you link a Blue Card to a program account with your Platinum Card, you will be eligible to transfer points that you've earned by spending with your Blue Card.

The following Cards are not eligible to transfer points:

American Express® Platinum Credit Card
Blue for Business® Credit Card
Blue for Students®
Some Blue from American Express Cards
Business Management Account
Gold Optima® Card
Optima® Credit Card
Optima® Platinum Card®
Platinum Business Credit Card®
ZYNC® Card

This is really annoying. I've used this method many times to fill up accounts between my family members for redemptions.
Guess all good things have to come to an end at some time.

I assume that it means that the resale value goes down from now until 9/1 - significantly more supply as people try to cash out vs usual demand.

Then starting 9/1 there will be little/no demand on the resale market besides for BP redemptions.

Or very simple take the risk of booking random people from your own accounts! :)

Ouch.

For the avrage consumer not involved in points buying and selling this a a VERY positive change.

Points will get more value and more redemptions will be available, brokers will possibly have a harder time doing bookings.

Nah. Not much will change, it's certainly a negative, say you want to transfer to a friend at random, no one is adding all their family and friends as AUs for a potential transfer.

Ouch.
And you could add this detail as well to that post of yours.

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/american-express-gold-card-available-again-in-limited-edition-rose-gold-from-6-6-7-17/

Called when I made my payment and confirmed with a supervisor that it's indeed true, from Tom. the 6th to the next month 17.
