I tried award search as follows on united website.
IAD -> SFO (3 days) SFO -> RNO (4 days) RNO -> IAD.
I tried multi-city search and I found my tickets in economy saver for above travel for 35k miles on united site. I wanted use my us airways miles, as I am us airways chairman. When I called chairman line, lady said,they cannot book this type of ticket. They can only do IAD->SFO (7 days) . RNO->IAD (open jaw ticket) for 25k miles. they can't do SFO->RNO for me. I only am left with option of driving that distance (which is not bad, but would have liked taking flight).
Any suggestion, if this is true, that US airways cannot book this ticket? Any suggestion, how can I accomplish this. For now I booked what us airways offered, but if better way to get it done is found, I can always cancel without a fee.
