Help with car rental in Jerusalem for succos

I mostly rented avis. and ususally in the the one on yirmiyahu

I did have friends that got upgraded nicely by hertz... but it all depends on the time you rent how busy it is, what they have avail...

If you want cheap, reserve a manual, and u'll deff get a automatic at the price of a manual (avis)

Look at the prices at budget.com - it might be much better (i saw the automatic getz for $7 b4 insurance)

funny u say that.. i thought also that i wud get chpr from budget- and i had a reservation.. but after insurance (LI) and after vat and paying full price for shabbos and yom tov- hertz and avis are much chpr...!
ok i think i will go with hertz... i have a better feeling for the hertz gold account.... and less people rent from hertz (my own made up theory)

Just a note - in Israel they dont care too much about ur status ... But it deff still helps

A word of caution: I've seen avis on yirmiyahu give ppl a hard time getting an upgrade from a manual even if they claim not to drive it....telling ''sorry this is what u ordered'' you can pay the diff. For a auto car if you like!!! Should not be a prob if u have status of sweet talk!!

Happened to my father years ago that the place only had manuals left.  He said, no problem, just make sure you give me every insurance you've got because I don't have a clue how to drive a stick-shift.  They managed to find an automatic for him.

btw, Avis Jerusalem does not have in the past year so many manuals (class A) in stock.
        and the B class is usually at the same price or only $1-2 more then the A.

I understood what you meant, I just don't believe that in the 63 year history of the country of Israel, that has ever happened

actually that was the norm until a few years ago. you just filled out an accident report, and avis dealt with the mc insurance. those were the days...

ya think there is anythin to do if i dont receive my world mastercard by tom (they said it should arrive in israel tom) and i have a rental for tom? I called citi and they said if i dont receive it in time i should give them a call- does this means there is hope in some sorta round about way to still rent in israel w/o CDW? anyone had any experience..? thanks

No chance ... You need CDW

However LI is not needed, cuz the LI you purchase is an additional... and when you use MCW its mandatory to purchase LI... I tried fighting it a few times, no luck

If you have an Eldan reservation for Sunday, the will open Motzei SHabbos, and you can pick up your car then with no extra charge. Be prepared to spend several hours in a zoo though.

i meant is there a way if i dont have my card ON ME i can still rent with the world mastercad and get the LI insurance... i was wondering what citi would do for me they told me to call tom if i dont yet get my card...

Don't see why they can't just authorize it with the numbers, assuming Citi will give them to you

You can't, because in Israel they need an imprint. They wont do it w/o the card being there
