So do you draw the line at $0? If changing stores brings down the price by 50%, 75% or 95%, or 99% it's OK, but if it's down by 100% it's not?

It's not the price it's the method. If the main page of Target.com has the item listed at $0, then I would have no issue with it because they made their offer and I'm accepting it. Alternatively, causing a glitch to reduce the price by any amount is problematic (in my opinion).

I'm not sure that you are familiar with true criminal hacking.

You are not gaining access to any back-end data here. You are using the front-end of the website which is served to you by Target. Toggling between stores is 100% within your rights.

I agree that this is not hacking in the literal sense, but I don't know of a better word to convey "causing a website to return unintended results through specific user input".

Also, just to be clear, I'm not here admonishing anyone or giving mussar. I'm just giving my opinion because that's where the conversation headed.

The celebratory, victorious remarks on the TRU or  recent Reebok deal stands in stark contrast to this one, where everyone is suddenly major בעלי נפש and יראי שמים.

Hidden ticket is different because in such a case the website is functioning exactly as expected (even though the passenger might not be). This is much more comparable to a fuel dump, which I also think is problematic.

So, it's as if you went into the store, waited in line to checkout and when the cashier scanned the item it came up as $0 which under normal circumstances would be fine but in this case it required an extra step: you manipulated the system and forced it to show $0 and did multiple times for multiple items.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I'm just saying this doesn't fall under the normal "deals" category

The only thing abnormal about it is that Target still didn't fix it. Everything else falls right in line with a price glitch. How exactly did TRU get to verify anything? The items in that case were almost immediately fulfilled by third party drop-shippers and TRU was unable to stop it.

To me this is where the difference is ...don't order more then you can use!
As said above if this exact method worked for iPads and people knew they could flip them they wouldn't feel any guilt in buying hundreds of them because it would be justified as a glitch but in this case you know you have no purpose for these things and it starts to make you feel bad. Dont order if you know you wont use or it is unrealistic to have so much of.

Exactly. We're a family of 2, and basically every free item would most likely be rarely used in my house. So as much as I desperately wanted to use this deal, I passed on it. There's just no way we're gonna use more than one bottle of canola oil.

Everyone make an effort to pass these things on while they're still fresh.
Give to family, friends, neighbors. Bring extras to the country.
To strangers: facebook groups such as this one.
There are WhatsApp groups to share free stuff. Ask your friends about them.
