Ya thats the exactly the same scenario I am in... The return protection and primary rental insurance etc is only for the platinum level card not the other ones. :(

If I reallocate $500 from a different card, is it technically possible for them to switch/convert  the account to a platinum acct?

I dunno about rental insurance, but for Return Protection, why not just apply for (or switch to) a Sapphire Preferred/Ink Bold, both of which have that benefit?

(Or is the obvious answer that if you had enough credit this wouldn't be a problem in the first place?)

I have both of those.
The problem is that I made a charge last month on my co card and I would like to claim return protection.
What I'm going to try now is see if the merchant is willing to put the charge on my saphire card (and return the charge to my co opp card).

I'd give you <10% chance. Good luck.

Edit: I misread. I thought you meant have the issuer (i.e. Chase) change the charge from CO to CSP.

It could work. I've done it to reach a spend threshold. Make sure you still have the receipt.
You'll have a greater chance of success doing this at a small business than at a major retailer.

$500/calendar year.

Dan, are u sure about this? The T&c's don't specify either way. I called chase enhancement services tonight - twice, both times I was told that the limit is per 12 month period.

I'm not sure why I wrote $500.  Should be $1,000.

T&Cs say $1,000 annually.  I read that to mean calendar year.  I know for a fact that AMEX does as well.

Yes you're correct.  I thought the original question was about price protection - but it was about return protection.

How about adding the post about CC with big sign-up bonuses here? I think that this is what lots of people around here are looking for.

I think I read somewhere on the forums that taking advantage of chase benefits can trigger a "financial review" (e.g. price protection, return protection, extended  warranty)

Can any confirm this? Anybody here ever make use of chase enhancement services?
thanx

Chase benefits triggering a FR?
AFAIK Chase doesn't even do FR's.

+1

Unless he meant to say AMEX, in which case I have read (I think on DDF) that someone thought there may be a correlation.

"FR" meaning they can ask me to verify my business,  etc. (I'm claiming benefits on my bold card)

Its possible that I read this theory about amex and not about chase,  I'm asking bec I don't remember the details. (E.g. if it was with amex or chase or citi)
