can i ask how many miles it was

Sure - I actually think it was a pretty good rate (not that using airline points for hotel is the best value at all but...) -
It was 16,900 a night before signing in to my account - after signing in it lowered to  13,525 a night.
That was for the lowest room they offer.

Delta had it for 50,000+ a night (which is ridiculous! )  until I signed in to my account and then it was  around 17,000 a night.

I"ve twice booked 4 rooms at a hotel (Crowne Plaza & Sheraton) via priceline and asked for an upgrade for one of the rooms at check in and was successful both times.

I tried that already and did not notice anything that fit those categories. Was wondering if anyone had anything positive to contribute

Confirmed in advance or at checkin?

Mon frere, you can search all of the Hyatt properties from that site. If you did not find one, either a) you didn't look hard enough, or b) it doesn't exist. A lack of effort, or its non-existence, does not effect the positivity of my contribution.

And to all u ppl; enjoying my suite upgrade w my priceline reservation right now... Booyah!

Congrats :)

Check in

Did you just plain ask, or did you give them the anniversary/honeymoon/etc excuse?

Edit: Oh, I see you used a (Hyatt) SU. Never mind.

The reading comprehension level on this forum makes me cringe at times.

I wouldn't have the cojones to preemptively call a manager for an comp upgrade on a priceline stay.  And that's not something that happens to me too often.

What's the worst that could ever happen?
I just wouldn't feel comfortable asking for a confirmed upgrade when making a dirt cheap stay.  At check-in I'd probably pull out my elite card and try my luck, but most managers will laugh you off when asking for a confirmed upgrade in advance when you're on a priceline stay.

You've completely missed my point.

Most managers correctly see priceline folk as people with no loyalty whatsoever, who won't spend an extra dime to stay with them in the future, and basically as them doing you a favor with your room being subsidized and made possible by actual rate-paying guests.  Frankly, they're often right.

You are also probably going to get put in old/unrenovated room and are lucky to get confirmed into 2 queens or 1 king in advance.

To then ask for a suite, in advance, is a very long shot. It's one thing to ask if they happen to have something when you checkin, but I don't waste my time on long shots nor do I care to be sneered at "oh, I see you're on a priceline rate."

Don't see how that proves your point.  As I implied already, there's always a good shot of getting upgraded at the desk by flashing your membership card or sweet talking a bored checkin rep and make them feel important.  After all it costs the hotel nothing to upgrade you to a suite if they know they won't sell it.

Getting a confirmed upgrade in advance though is significantly more difficult.
I maintain that not too many hotels will confirm you in advance when on a priceline stay no matter what the argument is.
