I don't know if revolving categories are good to include in a spreadsheet, as they would require constant updates.

You have to include that because its prob what it's most useful for. I actually separated the categories in the formula so that it would be easy to update and if people actually want to use this I can link it to a chart so that everyone can update it easily themselves

You could also code excel to output different numbers depending on the date... that shouldn't be that difficult.

good to know. as i said i'm a complete novice and am not aware of many things that excel is capable of. I'm sure there are plenty of things that I could have done more efficiently and would appreciate you pointing out anything you happen to notice. I did this as a learning experience

anyway here is it with the checking option added,no time to do the rest right now

Excel ain't my forte.
I thought your spreadsheet you had going for the Hyatt FFN/United miles promo was pretty neat.

Ya, that was a great spreadsheet, sometimes I'll open it up to admire all those beautiful points and miles from that promo.  Also had a good spreadsheet for my month long RTW earlier this year.
Still just an Excel novice though.

Hope I'm not driving you guys crazy with this but took a few more min tonight and linked the spreadsheet to a chart on sheet 2 to make it easier to update bonus categories. Hoping for some critiques and feedback  :)

If someone who knows excel can please chime in. Is there anyway to make excel ignore cells in a table that have not been selected? Meaning if I make a drop down list and only choose 2 out of 10 options that the formulas in those other 8 options should not run

How do you choose two options in a drop-down? I'm probably misunderstanding you.

I'll show you. I'm trying to make it that by choosing your cards it will recognize not to calculate the formulas associated with the other ones.

CMIIW, but AFAIK there's no simple way to choose multiple cards (besides for custom, which isn't simple).

oh right, you're running 2003. In 2010 starter it's not complicated to choose multiple cards just the hidden cells will still run their formulas

Here's what I'm thinking:

Create a named list elsewhere that'll be a dropdown, and make cells A33:A55 into drop-downs (to select which cards you have). You can then use vlookup from another tab to find the point variables for each card.

Hmmm, maybe 2010 has a formula to check if that item in the list is selsected, IDK.

Lastly, consider renaming your tabs ;)

thnx I'm going to read through that slowly and once I figure out what everything means I'll give it a try  ;)

I would've gotten around to figuring out you can do that eventually :)
