The other school was Nesivos Olom in Williamsburg.  Besides the 3 boys I mentioned earlier, there was another case with one boy, and that one must have been the reason it came to the attention of the authorities.

Like the case we saw last week, this one involved a divorced couple.  The son stayed with the father and the mother (also frum) sued for custody on the grounds that the child had been sent to a school with no secular studies, and was forced to wear long payas and dress in a way that led other children to make fun of him.  Judge Charles Murphy ruled that the father had two weeks to transfer the boy to an approved school, but regarding the rest:
The court will not pass upon the wearing by the child of payas, or long hair, or the matter of his wearing apparel. That is a matter which should be decided by a rabbinical committee. The court in all sincerity asks both the mother and the father to relieve him of this perplexing burden, as it is delicate and theological in nature, and rightly belongs in the realm of the theologians of the Orthodox Jewish faith.
The boy eventually became prominent in NK.

Nesivos Olam ever had a school in Williamsburg? It's a small kehilla called the Malochim, since they were followers of the Malach Reb Avrum Duber Levine zatz"l. I guess no limudei chol was a Chabad ideology.

Told you not to worry about him.

“I had no advocacy skills or community organizing experience going into this work. I had no government relations experience, no media, budgeting, legal or education policy experience. I was just a young adult who was seriously handicapped by my lack of education,” Moster wrote in his online statement.

They expect the standard to be adopted, but

In the announcement of Moster’s departure, Yaffed also announced that it had secured a $1 million pledge to be paid out over five years to continue the organization’s work.

What are they going to be doing with that money now that they accomplished their goal?

I can't find it right now, but IIRC there was a billboard put up by OJPAC to combat Moster's billboards, and it said something to the effect of "I learned in Yeshiva and I'm the CEO of a multimillion dollar organization," with a picture of Moster.

Why do you think they're going to stop here?
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

His question could be rhetorical, and perhaps he’s making the same point as you.

Found it! Not sure if it was OJPAC, or if is even a real billboard. I can't tell from the graphics, maybe it's just photoshopped. But it's a great line anyways!

Overview of presentation on Substantial Equivalence for NYSED's upcoming meeting on Monday, see pdf
https://www.regents.nysed.gov/node/10175

More detailed letter from NYSED https://www.regents.nysed.gov/common/regents/files/922p12a7.pdf
Includes a "summary" of the comments received, plus their response, which takes up over 100 pages of that letter.

What's the next step? Can the Yeshivas appeal the new guidelines if approved tomorrow?

I don't think so.  I think that if NYSED had taken the comments and written totally new guidelines, then they would have to re-subject them to the 60 day comment period.  But what they did were just add clarifications on a few issues, so they can just approve them as is.  If they approve them tomorrow, they go into effect Sept 28, 2022.

Winter 2023, NYSED and Local School Authorities (LSAs)will work together to develop more specific details on how the LSAs will review the private schools.

By Dec 2023, yeshivas have to decide which pathway they want to use to prove compliance (review by LSA, or being attached to high school that offers regents exams, have students take assessment tests, for example).

2024, LSAs do the actual reviews of yeshivas.

By June 2025, yeshivas have to show that they offer substantially equivalent education.

The Committee voted to approve it on Monday, and it goes to a vote of the full Board on Tuesday, where it's expected to pass.

The Committee's meeting yesterday was open to the public and the presentation on private school regulations and subsequent discussion was recorded.  Link to Sept 12 meeting (Archive) https://www.regents.nysed.gov/meetings

The only interesting thing I found was that of the 50 or so people in the audience almost half appeared to be frum.
