Magnetic for me kicks.
 Have a magnetic connected on all my phones and all my vehicles have a magnetic mount in the cars that way I don't have to be busy opening and closing holders.
   And suction works fine, but I personally use it in the CD slots.

 Try the magnet and see how you like it, and if no good buy the other one.

the issue with it is that not all cars have a cd slot...

  That's if you have the newer cars then yes, a slight problem. Or if you have a really old car.

I personally dont like the magnet.

WireCutter: The Best Car Phone Mount recommends the iOttie which comes in 3 options (vent, suction, CD Player). I use the CD one as it is the most secure.

And I say they work a tenth of what these work.
 For the magnetic ones, the cheaper they are the weaker the magnet, so do yourself a favor and get one that can hold your phone vs your phone falling and chance of cracking the glass.
