Bezos grew up watching us put a man on the moon and stopping there. Makes sense he'd like to push that horizon with his billions.

Bringing this thread back on topic :P...

Apparently there are a few places in the world where you could snorkel with fully-grown blue whales. Tonga, the Dominican Republic, and according to one commenter, the island of Niue (which I never heard about till today).

http://www.dpreview.com/articles/6219330535/art-wolfe-swimming-with-the-humpbacks-tonga-2013

Sounds like a bucket list experience to me.

Mrs. AJK has been bothering me about Tonga for as long as we've had our diving licenses. Hope she doesn't lurk 'round here.
On my last dive trip there was group that had just dove Isla Socorro and showed us some videos.  Huge Mantas, Humpbacks, silvertip/reef sharks, and dolphins all swimming along with them.  It became instant BL material.  Need to do it on a live-aboard though.

Never heard of Isla Socorro, but googled it and found this. Wow. Wow. Wow.

1 - Israel (never been there yet!)
2 - New Zealand
3 - Antarctica
4 - Kenya/Tanzania (Maasai Mara wildebeest migration)
5 - Banff/Jasper
6 - Maldives or Bora Bora
7 - St. Lucia (Jade Mountain Resort)
8 - Patagonia
9 - Cross-country RV trip
10 - Palau

Making some changes based on recent research and trip reports.

#5 - Norway > Banff. As far as I can tell, there's isn't anyhthing in Banff that can't be had in Norway, only better and more awesome. Plus Norway has the fjords, the islands, and the ocean (and polar bears, in Svalbard).
#6 - Scenery and activities is more important to me than better snorkeling. If I travel to the other end of the owrld for snorkeling, I may as well go to the very best (see #9), and do BOB over MLE for now.
#9 - The more I look into it, the more I want to bump an RV trip off the top 10 and replace it with the GBR. So I did just that :D.

So, in no particular order:

1 - Israel (never been there yet!)
2 - New Zealand
3 - Antarctica
4 - Kenya/Tanzania (Maasai Mara wildebeest migration)
5 - Norway
6 - Bora Bora
7 - St. Lucia (Jade Mountain Resort)
8 - Patagonia
9 - Great Barrier Reef
10 - Palau

Also: Flying WRY-PPW, the shortest scheduled commercial flight in the world at all of 47 seconds.

And Ni'ihau, Molokai, and Kahoolawe would round out my Hawaiian island collection nicely.

Alaska Done!
Hawaii Done!
Iceland Done!
Cuba Done!

Interesting; do they have those turquoise fresh water lakes it's known for?

Yes, actually. Not quite lakes, but many fjords are tinted turquoise.

They also have the northernmost coral reefs, off the Lofoten Islands.

2 - New Zealand

they say the proper way to do NZ is with an RV, so do that cross country

The original cross-country I had listed was in the US, but I like your compromise :D.

Now if AJK would just finish that TR...

4 - Kenya/Tanzania (Maasai Mara wildebeest migration)
is this either/or? wherever the migration is. or plan on doing both?

Migration is a best case scenario, but apparently availability is incredibly difficult and everything is expensive then.

I'd go non-migration time if that's what it takes.

This is by far the top of my list. I hope to make it this coming migration

I did some heavy research on this.. Its a BIG pita to get to the serengheti. You have to sleep over in between kokky flights in Arusha. But its amazing in the end.. Just a big PITA

If you are already going to Arusha make sure to include the Ngorongoro Crater.
